Abstract

Buah belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) memiliki kandungan tanin, saponin, dan flavonoid yang dapat digunakan sebagai antibakteri. Sediaan emulgel merupakan suatu sediaan topical yang menguntungkan terutama pada sistem penghantarannya. Emulgel memiliki keuntungan penetrasi yang baik, dengan dosis minimal sudah bisa menimbulkan efek farmakologis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk memformulasikan sediaan emulgel ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh dengan variasi konsentrasi HPMC untuk menghasilkan mutu fisik dan stabilitas yang baik serta mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan untuk mengetahui formula yang paling baik yang diperoleh. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan adalah maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh diformulasikan menjadi sediaan emulgel, dengan variasi HPMC sebesar 1%, 3%, dan 5%. Sediaan emulgel di evaluasi mutu fisik dan stabilitas, kemudian dilanjutkan uji aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi cakram. Data yang didapat kemudian di analisis statistic menggunakan aplikasi SPSS 22. Peningkatan konsentrasi HPMC menyebabkan peningkatan viskositas, daya lekat dan pH, namun mengalami penurunan daya sebar dan nilai daya hambat bakteri. Semua formula baik itu formula 1, 2, dan 3 memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Formula 2 Sediaan emulgel ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh memiliki mutu fisik yang paling baik dengan nilai daya hambat yang tergolong sangat kuat yaitu 22,23 mm ± 1,18. Semua formula memiliki stabilitas yang tidak stabil pada pengujian sebelum dan sesudah cycling test. Carambola fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) contains tannins, saponins and flavonoids which can be used as antibacterials. Emulgel preparation is a topical preparation which is advantageous especially in its delivery system. Emulgel has the advantage of good penetration, with minimal doses it can cause pharmacological effects. The purpose of this study was to formulate emulgel preparations of ethanol extract of starfruit fruit with various HPMC concentrations to produce good physical quality and stability and to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and to find out the best formula obtained. The extraction method used was maceration with 96% ethanol solvent. The ethanol extract of belimbing wuluh fruit is formulated into an emulgel preparation, with HPMC variations of 1%, 3% and 5%. Emulgel preparations were evaluated for physical quality and stability, then followed by testing for antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method. The data obtained was then analyzed statistically using the SPSS 22 application. Increasing the concentration of HPMC causes an increase in viscosity, adhesion and pH, but decreases the spreadability and inhibition of bacteria. All formulas, both formulas 1, 2 and 3, have antibacterial activity. Formula 2 Emulgel preparation of ethanol extract of starfruit fruit has the best physical quality with a very strong inhibition value of 22.23 mm ± 1.18. All formulas have unstable stability in the test before and after the cycling test.
