Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive and irreversible impairment of kidney function that requires long-term therapy. CKD patients generally receive various medications to manage the primary disease and comorbidities, which may affect therapeutic outcomes. This study aimed to determine the drug utilization profile, the most frequently used medications, and the relationship between drug use patterns and therapeutic outcomes in CKD patients at UNS Hospital Surakarta in 2025. This study was a non-experimental study with a descriptive analytic design and a retrospective approach using medical record data of hospitalized CKD patients during January–December 2025. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with a total of 232 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Data analysis was performed using frequency distribution and percentage analysis, as well as the Chi-Square test The results showed that CKD patients were predominantly female (56%), aged >30 years (98%), and CKD stage V was the most common stage (78%). The most frequently used medications were folic acid (13.1%), amlodipine (11.7%), and ondansetron (10.2%). Therapeutic outcomes showed that 98.71% of patients experienced clinical improvement. The Chi-Square test results indicated a significant relationship between drug use patterns and therapeutic outcomes (p<0.05).
