Abstract
Asuhan Anak Seribu Pulau Surakarta, apakah jenis jamur penyebab
pewarnaan Lactophenol Cotton Blue. Hubungan personal hygiene
Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the nails caused by
dermatophyte and non-dermatophyte fungi. This disease commonly
occurs in environments with high humidity and poor personal hygiene.
This study aimed to determine the relationship between personal hygiene
and the incidence of onychomycosis among children at the Anak Seribu
Pulau Orphanage in Surakarta, to identify the types of fungi causing
onychomycosis found in the children at the orphanage, and to analyze
the association between personal hygiene and the incidence of
onychomycosis among these children.
This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional
approach. The respondents consisted of 30 children, and the samples
were toenail clippings. Examinations were conducted directly and
indirectly, followed by fungal culture on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar
(SDA) media and Lactophenol Cotton Blue staining. The relationship
between personal hygiene and the incidence of onychomycosis was
analyzed using the chi-square test.
The results showed that from 30 toenail samples incubated for 5–
7 days, non-dermatophyte fungi were identified, namely Aspergillus
fumigatus, Aspergillus ochraceus, and Monotospora sp. Statistical
analysis indicated a significant relationship between personal hygiene
and the incidence of onychomycosis. This study concludes that children
in the orphanage have not yet adequately understood personal hygiene
in relation to the occurrence of nail onychomycosis.
