Abstract
normal, kelompok kontrol negatif diberikan CMC Na, kelompok kontrol
positif diberikan glibenklamid, kelompok ekstrak etanol bunga angsana
dosis 70 mg/kgBB, 140 mg/kgBB dan 280 mg/kgBB. Kemudian
organ histopatologi pankreas tikus.
Hyperglycemia is a hallmark of diabetes mellitus characterized
by elevated blood glucose levels beyond normal limits. Pterocarpus
indicus (Angsana flower) exhibits anti-hyperglycemic activity. This
study aimed to investigate the anti-hyperglycemic activity of Pterocarpus
indicus ethanol extract in reducing blood glucose levels and minimizing
the percentage of necrosis in pancreatic beta cells of rats, as well as to
determine the effective dose of the extract.
The angsana flowers were extracted using the maceration method
with 96% ethanol as the solvent. The study involved 30 male white rats,
divided into six groups: normal control group, negative control group
(administered CMC Na), positive control group (administered
glibenclamide), and three treatment groups receiving ethanol extract of
angsana flowers at doses of 70 mg/kgBW, 140 mg/kgBW, and 280
mg/kgBW. Blood glucose levels were measured using the GOD-PAP
method, and pancreatic histopathology was examined in alloxan-induced
rats. Data were analyzed using SPSS software with the One-Way
ANOVA method, followed by Post Hoc testing.
This study demonstrates that ethanol extract of Angsana flower
possesses hypoglycemic activity and improves pancreatic
histopathology in rats. A dose of 280 mg/kg BW was found to be the
most effective in reducing blood glucose levels and decreasing the
percentage of necrosis, comparable to glibenclamide as a positive
control.
