Abstract

Pasta gigi merupakan sediaan berbentuk pasta digunakan sebagai pembersih gigi dan memiliki kandungan zat antibakteri. Daun mimba (Azadirachta indica A. Juss)sebagai antibakteri yang dapat menghambat atau membunuh pertumbuhan bakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Na-CMC terhadap mutu fisik dan stabilitas sediaan pasta gigi ekstrak daun mimba (Azadirachta indica A. Juss)serta mengetahui efek aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Penelitian ini menggunakan lima formula, tiga formula dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun mimba 1% dengan variasi konsentrasi Na�CMC 1%, 2% dan 3%, dan sediaan pasta gigi dari pasaran merk “P” sebagai kontrol positif. Evaluasi sediaan meliputi uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji pH, uji viskositas, uji tinggi busa, uji daya sebar dan uji stabilitas (cycling test). Sediaan pasta gigi diuji dengan bakteri Streptococcus mutans menggunakan metode difusi dengan mengamati zona hambat yang terbentuk disekitaran kertas cakram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sediaan pasta gigi pada semua formula dengan mutu fisik organoleptik, homogenitas, viskositas, pH, daya sebar, tinggi busa dan stabilitas menghasilkan sediaan yang baik. Pada pengujian aktivitas antibakteri sediaan pasta gigi didapatkan nilai diameter zona hambat yaitu F1 12,32 mm; F2 10,77 mm; F3 10,35 mm; F4 (k-) 0 mm; F5 (k+) 13,91 mm. Semua formula memiliki aktivitas antibakteri, formula yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri berdasarkan hasil statistik yang paling baik adalah formula 1 dengan diameter zona hambat 12,32 mm. Toothpaste is a paste-shaped preparation used as a tooth cleaner and contains antibacterial substances. Neem leaf (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) as an antibacterial that can inhibit or kill bacterial growth. This study aims to determine the effect of Na-CMC on the physical quality and stability of neem leaf extract toothpaste preparations (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) and to determine the effect of antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans bacteria. This study used five formulas, three formulas with 1% neem leaf extract concentration with variations in Na-CMC concentration of 1%, 2% and 3%, and toothpaste preparations from the "P" brand market as a positive control. Evaluation of the preparation includes organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, foam height test, spreadability test and stability test (cycling test). Toothpaste preparations were tested with Streptococcus mutans bacteria using the diffusion method by observing the inhibition zone formed around the disc paper The results showed that toothpaste preparations in all formulas with organoleptic physical quality, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, spreadability, foam height and stability produced good preparations. In testing the antibacterial activity of toothpaste preparations, the inhibition zone diameter values were obtained, namely F1 12.32 mm; F2 10.77 mm; F3 10.35 mm; F4 (k-) 0 mm; F5 (k+) 13.91 mm. All formulas have antibacterial activity, the formula that has the best antibacterial activity based on statistical results is formula 1 with an inhibition zone diameter of 12.32 mm.
