Abstract
Radikal bebas merupakan senyawa yang bersifat tidak stabil
dan berbahaya bagi tubuh untuk mengurangi efek negatifnya
diperlukan senyawa antioksidan. Daun sirih merah (Piper ornatum.)
merupakan salah satu bagian tanaman yang mengandung senyawa
antioksidan berupa flavonoid. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk
mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan pada sediaan emulgel ekstrak daun
sirih merah dengan variasi konsentrasi HPMC.
Ekstrak daun sirih merah dengan metode maserasi
menggunakan etanol 96%. Ekstrak kemudian diibuat sediaan emulgel
dengan variasi gelling agent HPMC sebagai berikut: F1, F2, F3%
berturut-turut konsentrasi 3%, 5%.7%. Formulasi sediaan emulgel
dievaluasi sifat mutu fisik meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, pH,
viskositas, daya sebar dan daya lekat, kemudian dilakukan uji stabilitas
menggunakan metode cyling test, selanjutnya ekstrak dan formula
emmulgel diuji antioksidan dengan metode DPPH (2-2-difenil-1-
pikrilhidrazil). Data dianalisis secara statistic dengan aplikasi SPSS.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sediaan emulgel
antioksidan daun sirih merah dengan variasi HPMC memenuhi
parameter uji mutu fisik emulgel. Sediaan emulgel daun sirih merah
memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Formula 3 merupakan formula yang
terbaik karena memiliki uji mutu fisik yang baik dan uji stabilitas yang
baik yang meliputi uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji tipe emulsi, uji
pH, uji viskositas, uji daya sebar dan uji daya lekat serta mempunyai
aktivitas antioksidan yang baik sebesar 43,389 ppm.
Free radicals are compounds that are unstable and harmful to
the body. Antioxidant compounds are needed to reduce their negative
effects. Red betel leaf (Piper ornatum.) is one part of the plant that
contains antioxidant compounds in the form of flavonoids. The purpose
of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of emulgel
preparations of red betel leaf extract with various concentrations of
HPMC.
Red betel leaf extract by maceration method using 96% ethanol.
The extract was then made into emulgel preparations with various
HPMC gelling agents as follows: F1, F2, F3%, respectively,
concentrations of 3%, 5%, 7%. The emulgel formulation was evaluated
for its physical quality including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH,
viscosity, spreadability and adhesion, then a stability test was carried
out using the cyling test method, then the emmulgel extract and
formula were tested for antioxidant using the DPPH method (2-2-
diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl). Data were analyzed statistically with the
SPSS application.
The research results showed that the red betel leaf antioxidant
emulgel preparation with HPMC variations met the physical quality test
parameters of emulgel. Red betel leaf emulgel preparation has
antioxidant activity. Formula 3 is the best formula because it has good
physical quality tests and good stability tests which include
organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, emulsion type tests, pH tests,
viscosity tests, spreadability tests and adhesiveness tests and has good
antioxidant activity of 43,389 ppm.
