Abstract

Sediaan tabir surya adalah produk kosmetik yang berfungsi melindungi kulit dari dampak buruk sinar ultraviolet (UV) dengan cara menyerap dan memantulkan radiasi tersebut. Paparan sinar UV yang berlebihan dapat menyebabkan kerusakan kulit dan berisiko mengarah pada berbagai penyakit kulit. Senyawa flavonoid adalah senyawa yang ada dalam Kulit buah lemon (Citrus x limon (L.) Osbeck) yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai sunscreen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan carbopol 940 sebagai gelling agent sediaan emulgel, dengan mengevaluasi aktivitas proteksi sinar UV yang diukur melalui nilai SPF (Sun Protection Factor) menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Penelitian ini membandingkan empat formulasi emulgel yang bervariasi dalam konsentrasi carbopol 940 ( 1%, 1,5%, dan 2%). Sediaan emulgel berbasis ekstrak kulit buah lemon ini dievaluasi stabilitas dan karakteristik fisiknya. Aktivitas proteksi sinar UV dari masing-masing formula ditentukan secara in vitro menggunakan spektrofotometri UV- Vis pada panjang gelombang 290-320 nm. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji statistik Shapiro-Wilk, One Way ANOVA, dan paired T test/Wilcoxon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan konsentrasi carbopol 940 secara signifikan mempengaruhi mutu fisik sediaan, namun tidak mempengaruhi aktivitas tabir surya emulgel ekstrak kulit buah lemon secara signifikan. Formula 1 dan Formula 2 dengan konsentrasi carbopol masing-masing 1% dan 1,5% memberikan hasil mutu sediaan yang paling baik. Sunscreen preparations are cosmetic products designed to protect the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) rays by absorbing and reflecting this radiation. Excessive UV exposure can cause skin damage and increase the risk of various skin diseases. Flavonoids are compounds found in lemon peel (Citrus x limon (L.) Osbeck) that have sunscreen activity. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding Carbopol 940 as a gelling agent in emulgel preparations by assessing the UV protection activity, measured by Sun Protection Factor (SPF) using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. This study compared four emulgel formulations with varying concentrations of Carbopol 940 (1%, 1,5%, dan 2%). The emulgel preparations based on lemon peel extract were evaluated for their stability and physical characteristics. The UV protection activity of each formula was determined in vitro using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at wavelengths of 290-320 nm. Data analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, One-Way ANOVA, and paired T-test/Wilcoxon. The results showed that increasing the concentration of Carbopol 940 significantly affected the physical properties of the formulation, but did not significantly influence the sunscreen activity of the lemon peel extract emulgel. The formula 1 and formula 2, with carbopol concentrations of 1% and 1.5%, respectively, produce the best quality preparation results.
