Abstract

Prevalensi penyakit kulit di Indonesia cukup tinggi dengan persentase 28%. Rimpang rumput teki dapat menjadi alternatif sebagai antibakteri. Krim dapat menjadi sediaan yang menguntungkan karena mudah dibilas air dan permeabilitas yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari krim ekstrak rimpang rumput teki terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dengan variasi asam stearat dan paraffin cair. Ekstrak etanol rimpang rumput teki diperoleh dengan metode ultrasonik dengan etanol 96%. Ekstrak dilakukan optimasi antibakteri pada media MHA dengan konsentrasi 5%; 7,5%; dan 10%. Ekstrak dibuat sediaan krim dengan menvariasikan asam stearat dan paraffin cair sebagai emulgator. Sediaan krim diuji mutu fisik meliputi uji organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, daya lekat, uji dan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dengan metode cakram. Hasil dianalisis menggunakan SPSS jika terdistribusi normal (P-Value > 0,05) maka dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA< jika terdistribusi tidak normal P-Value < 0,05) maka dilanjutkan dengan uji Kruskal Wallis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variasi asam stearat dan parafin cair berpengaruh terhadap viskositas, daya sebar, dan daya lekat dapat memberikan perbedaan pada mutu fisik. PH krim memiliki kisaran 6,17 sampai 6,35. Viskositas pada rentang 3920,0 – 8286,7 Cp. Daya lekat semua formula lebih dari 1 detik. Daya sebar tertinggi pada F6 dengan diameter 4,5 cm. F6 dengan variasi asam stearat 20 dan 5 gram parafin cair merupakan formulasi krim yang paling optimal dengan mutu fisik dan stabilitas yang baik yang memiliki diameter daya hambat 16,86 cm. The prevalence of skin diseases in Indonesia is relatively high, with a percentage of 28%. Purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus) rhizome can serve as an alternative antibacterial agent. Cream formulations offer advantages due to their ease of rinsing with water and good permeability. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of purple nutsedge rhizome extract cream against Staphylococcus aureus, with variations in stearic acid and liquid paraffin. The ethanol extract of purple nutsedge rhizome was obtained using the ultrasonic method with 96% ethanol. The antibacterial activity of the extract was optimized on Mueller-Hinton Agar (MHA) at concentrations of 5%; 7.5%; and 10%. The extract was formulated into a cream by varying the stearic acid and liquid paraffin content. The cream formulations were evaluated for physical quality, including organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, and antibacterial activity using the disk diffusion method. The results were statistically analyzed using SPSS; if normally distributed (P�Value > 0.05), an ANOVA test was conducted, whereas if not normally distributed (P-Value < 0.05), the Kruskal-Wallis test was used. The results showed that variations in stearic acid and liquid paraffin affected viscosity, spreadability, and adhesion, leading to differences in physical quality. The pH of the cream ranged from 6.17 to 6.35. The viscosity was between 3,920 and 8,286.7 cP. The adhesion time for all formulations exceeded 1 second. The highest spreadability was observed in formulation F6, with a diameter of 4.5 cm. Formulation F6 was the most optimal cream formulation, exhibiting good physical quality and an inhibition zone diameter of 16.86 cm.
