Abstract
Penuaan kulit adalah proses penurunan fungsi dan kapasitas secara progresif pada kulit yang disebabkan oleh radiasi sinar UV-A. Herba pegagan (Centella asiatica L. Urban) mengandung antioksidan alami sebagai bahan aktif untuk melindungi kulit dari kerusakan dan mencegah penuaan dini pada kulit. Penelitiaan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah gel ekstrak herba pegagan (Centella asiatica L. Urban) dengan variasi propilenglikol memiliki aktifitas anti-aging pada kelinci yang dipapar sinar UV-A.
Ekstrak herba pegagan sebesar 5% diformulasikan menjadi sediaan gel dengan variasi propilenglikol 9%, 12% dan 15% kemudian dilakukan uji mutu fisik dan stabilitas. Aktivitas anti-aging diuji pada 5 ekor kelinci. Punggung kelinci dibebaskan dari bulu kemudian di induksi dengan sinar UV-A selama 14 hari. Kulit punggung kelinci dioleskan gel F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 selama 30 hari. Penggamatan parameter menggunakan alat skin analyzer dilakukan sebelum induksi, sesudah induksi dan setelah pengolesan gel. Parameter meliputi persen kolagen, elastisitas dan kelembaban.
Hasil penelitian dianalisis statistik dengan one way anova. Semua variasi propilenglikol 9%, 12% dan 15% menununjukkan sediaan memenuhi syarat uji mutu fisik dan stabilitas yang baik. Peningkatan konsentrasi propilenglikol menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi konsentrasi propilenglikol maka daya sebar yang dihasilkan dapat meningkat. Uji iritasi primer F1, F2, F3 hampir tidak mengiritasi sedangan F4 tidak mengiritasi. Uji iritasi okuler semua gel tidak mengiritasi. Hasil pengujian aktivitas anti-aging menunjukkan bahwa F2 dan F3 memberikan efek anti-aging karena peningkatan persen parameter paling besar.
Skin aging is the process of progressively decreasing the function and capacity of the skin caused by UV-A radiation. Gotu kola herb (Centella asiatica L. Urban) contains natural antioxidants as active ingredients to protect the skin from damage and prevent premature aging of the skin. This study aimed to find out whether the gel extract of gotu kola (Centella asiatica L. Urban) with a variation of propylene glycol had anti-aging activity in rabbits exposed to UV-A rays.
Gotu kola herbal extract of 5% was formulated into a gel preparation with variations of 9%, 12% and 15% propylene glycol and then physical quality and stability tests were carried out. Anti-aging activity was tested on 5 rabbits. The rabbit's back is freed from fur and then induced with UV-A light for 14 days. The skin of the rabbit's back is applied with gels F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 for 30 days. Parameter monitoring using a skin analyzer is carried out before induction, after induction and after gel application. Parameters include collagen percentage, elasticity and moisture.
The results of the study were statistically analyzed with one way anova. All variations of 9%, 12% and 15% propylenglycol indicate that the preparation meets the requirements of good physical quality and stability tests. An increase in the concentration of propylene glycol indicates that the higher the concentration of propylene glycol, the resulting dispersion can increase. Primary irritation tests F1, F2, F3 are almost non-irritating while F4 is non-irritating. The eyepiece irritation test of all gels is non-irritating. The results of the anti-aging activity test showed that F2 and F3 provided an anti-aging effect because of the largest increase in the percentage of parameters.
