Abstract

Diare merupakan suatu gejala klinis yang ditandai dengan bertambahnya frekuensi defekasi disertai dengan perubahan konsistensi feses menjadi cair atau lembek. Salah satu tanaman obat yang dapat digunakan oleh masyarakat untuk mengatasi diare adalah buah lempeni (Ardisia elliptica Thunb.). Buah lempeni memiliki kandungan senyawa Asam syrginic, Isorhamnetin, B-amyrin, Quercetin, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, alkaloid, steroid berpotensi sebagai antidiare. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguji aktivitas buah lempeni (Ardisia elliptica Thunb.) sebagai antidiare terhadap mencit putih yang diinduksi oleum ricini Buah lempeni diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Ekstrak buah lempeni dilakukan karakterisasi dan di uji aktivitas antidiare. Uji aktivitas antidiare dilakukan dengan menginduksikan oleum ricini secara peroral pada mencit putih (Mus musculus) lalu diberikan ekstrak buah lempeni dengan variasi dosis 200 mg/Kg BB mencit, 300 mg/Kg BB mencit, dan 600 mg/Kg BB mencit. Kelompok kontrol positif mendapat loperamid 0,0052 mg/ g BB mencit dan kelompok kontrol negatif mendapat CMC-Na 0,5ml. Aktivitas antidiare ekstrak etanol buah lempeni diamati melalui parameter pengujian durasi diare, onset diare, frekuensi diare, serta bobot feses. Data hasil pengamatan dari masing-masing parameter dianalisis dengan menggunakan one way ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol buah lempeni dapat memberikan aktivitas antidiare pada mencit putih. Dosis ekstrak buah lempeni yang memiliki dosis paling efektif adalah dosis 300 mg/Kg BB mencit. Dosis tersebut mampu mengurangi onset diare, durasi diare, bobot feses dan frekuensi diare. Diarrhea is a clinical symptom characterized by an increase in the frequency of defecation accompanied by a change in the consistency of the stool to become liquid or mushy. One of the medicinal plants that people can use to treat diarrhea is lempeni fruit (Ardisia elliptica Thunb.).Lempeni fruit contains the compounds syrginic acid, Isorhamnetin, B-amyrin, Quercetin, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, steroids which have the potential to act as antidiarrheals. The aim of this study was to test the activity of lempeni fruit (Ardisia elliptica Thunb.) as an antidiarrhea against white mice induced by oleum ricini Lempeni fruit was extracted using the maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. Lempeni fruit extract was characterized and tested for antidiarrheal activity. The antidiarrheal activity test was carried out by inducing oleum ricini orally in white mice (Mus musculus) and then giving lempeni fruit extract with varying doses of 200 mg/Kg BW of mice, 300 mg/Kg BW of mice, and 600 mg/Kg BW of mice. The positive control group received loperamide 0.0052 mg/g BW of mice and the negative control group received CMC-Na 0.5%. The antidiarrheal activity of the ethanol extract of lempeni fruit was observed through the testing parameters of diarrhea duration, diarrhea onset, diarrhea frequency, and stool weight. The observation data for each parameter was analyzed using one way ANOVA. The research results showed that the ethanol extract of lempeni fruit could provide antidiarrheal activity in white mice. The most effective dose of lempeni fruit extract is 300 mg/Kg BW for mice. This dose can reduce the onset of diarrhea, duration of diarrhea, stool weight and frequency of diarrhea.
