Abstract
Nyamuk merupakan vektor penyebab berbagai penyakit
endemik di negara tropis dan subtropis, termasuk Indonesia. Salah satu
cara untuk mencegah gangguan atau gigitan nyamuk adalah dengan
menggunakan sediaan repelan. Minyak atsiri daun sirih (Piper betle
Linn.) diketahui mengandung komponen aktif seperti eugenol dan
chavicol yang memiliki aktivitas repelan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
membuat formulasi lotion repelan yang mengandung minyak atsiri
daun sirih (Piper betle Linn.) dengan variasi konsentrasi setil alkohol
sebagai emulgator.
Penelitian ini menggunakan tiga formula lotion dengan
konsentrasi minyak atsiri daun sirih sebesar 17% dan variasi
konsentrasi setil alkohol sebanyak 2%, 2.5%, dan 3%. Sediaan lotion
diuji mutu fisik parameter pengujian meliputi uji organoleptis,
homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya lekat, daya sebar, dan stabilitas.
Hasil pengujian dianalisis secara statistika menggunakan ANOVA dan
Paired T-Test menggunakan Statistical Product and Service Solution
(SPSS) ver22.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variasi konsentrasi setil alkohol
sebagai emulgator berpengaruh terhadap mutu fisik dan stabilitas
sediaan lotion. Peningkatan konsentrasi setil alkohol berpengaruh
terhadap kenaikan pH, viskositas, daya lekat dan penurunan pada daya
sebar. Analisis data dengan One Way ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa
penggunaan setil alkohol mempengaruhi Ph, viskositas, daya lekat, dan
daya sebar sediaan dengan nilai signifikansi <0,05. Seluruh formula
tidak stabil pada uji organoleptis, pH, dan viskositas. Berdasarkan hasil
pengamatan dan pengujian tiap formula menunjukkan bahwa formula
dengan konsentrasi setil alkohol 2,5% memberikan hasil uji mutu fisik
yang baik .
Mosquitoes are vectors responsible for various endemic
diseases in tropical and subtropical countries, including Indonesia. One
way to prevent mosquito bites is by using repellent preparations. Betel
leaf essential oil (Piper betle Linn) is known to contain active
components such as eugenol and chavicol, which have repellent
activity. This study aims to formulate a repellent lotion containing betel
leaf essential oil (Piper betle Linn) with varying concentrations of cetyl
alcohol as an emulsifier.
This study used three lotion formulas with a betel leaf essential
oil concentration of 17% and varying cetyl alcohol concentrations of
2%, 2,5%, and 3%. The physical quality parameters tested included
organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, adhesion,
spreadability, and stability. The test results were statistically analyzed
using ANOVA and Paired T-Test with Statistical Product and Service
Solution (SPSS) version 22.
The study results indicate that variations in cetyl alcohol
concentration as an emulsifier affect the physical quality and stability
of the lotion formulation. Increasing the concentration of cetyl alcohol
led to increases in pH, viscosity, and adhesion, and a decrease in
spreadability. Data analysis using One Way ANOVA showed that cetyl
alcohol usage significantly affected pH, viscosity, adhesion, and
spreadability, with a significance value of <0,05. All formulations were
unstable in organoleptic tests, pH, and viscosity. Based on observations
and tests, the formula with a 2,5% cetyl alcohol concentration provided
good physical quality results.
