Abstract
Radikal bebas merupakan senyawa yang bersifat tidak stabil
dan berbahaya bagi tubuh untuk mengurangi efek negatifnya
diperlukan senyawa antioksidan. Daun matoa (Pometia pinnata J.R
Forst & G. Forst) merupakan salah satu bagian tanaman memiliki
aktivitas sebagai antioksidan alami karena mengandung senyawa
flavonoid yang tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui
aktivitas antioksidan sediaan gel ekstrak daun matoa (Pometia pinnata
J.R Forst & G. Forst) dengan variasi gelling agent Carbopol 940 dan
Na-CMC.
Penelitian ini menggunakan 5 formula dengan variasi gelling
agent carbopol 940 dan Na-CMC (1,5% : 1,5%), (1% : 2%), dan (2% :
1%) ditambah dengan dua formula kontrol. Evaluasi mutu fisik sediaan
gel meliputi organoleptis, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, daya lekat,
homogenitas dan stabilitas. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak
daun matoa dan sediaan gel menggunakan metode DPPH (1,1-difenil-2pikrilhidrazil).
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sediaan gel antioksidan
ekstrak daun matoa dengan variasi gelling agent Carbopol 940 dan NaCMC
berpengaruh terhadap mutu fisik dan stabilitas. Sediaan gel
ekstrak daun matoa dan ekstrak daun matoa terdapat perbedaan
aktivitas antioksidan. Formula II memiliki memiliki mutu fisik dan
stabilitas yang paling baik dan formula I memiliki uji aktivitas
antioksidan paling tinggi sebesar 85,83 ppm.
Free radicals are compounds that are unstable and dangerous for
the body. To reduce their negative effects, antioxidant compounds are
needed. Matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata J.R Forst & G. Forst) are one
part of the plant that has activity as a natural antioxidant because it
contains high levels of flavonoid compounds. This study aims to
determine the antioxidant activity of matoa leaf extract gel preparations
(Pometia pinnata J.R Forst & G. Forst) with variations of the gelling
agents Carbopol 940 and Na-CMC.
This study used 5 formulas with variations of the gelling agent
carbopol 940 and Na-CMC (1.5% : 1.5%), (1% : 2%), and (2% : 1%)
plus two control formulas. Evaluation of the physical quality of the gel
preparation includes organoleptic, pH, viscosity, spreadability,
stickiness, homogeneity and stability. Testing the antioxidant activity
of matoa leaf extract and gel preparations using the DPPH (1,1diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl)
method.
The research results showed that the antioxidant gel preparation
of matoa leaf extract with variations of the gelling agent Carbopol 940
and Na-CMC had an effect on physical quality and stability. Matoa leaf
extract gel preparations and matoa leaf extract have differences in
antioxidant activity. Formula II has the best physical quality and
stability and formula I has the highest antioxidant activity test of 85.83
ppm.
