Abstract

Inflammation is a response to infection, injury, or irritation.
Generally, NSAIDs have toxic side effects in several organs. Fig leaves
(Ficus carica L.) are proven to contain flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins,
saponins, and steroids as an anti-inflammatory. This study aimed to
determine the anti-inflammatory activity and the effective dose of
ethanol extract from fig leaves against male white rats using the egg
white induction method.
Extraction of fig leaves using maceration method with 70%
ethanol solvent. The test animals were divided into five treatments:
negative control CMC-Na 0.5%, positive control Na-diclofenac 4.5
mg/KgBB, and tin leaf extract at 100, 200, and 400 mg/KgBB. Mice
were induced with egg white 1 hours after the oral treatment, then the
number of leukocytes was counted in the first and sixth hours after
treatment. Foot volume was measured and calculated AUC and DAI,
then analyzed by One Way Anova Test, Post Hoc Tukey, and Paired T
test.
The results showed that tin leaf extract had anti-inflammatory
activity against white male rats using the egg white induction method;
the effective dose of tin leaf extract was 400 mg/KgB. Variations in the
doses of tin leaf extract affect the number of leukocytes in inflamed
rats; the higher the dose used causes a decrease in the number of
leukocytes, which indicates inflammation.
