Abstract
Daun seledri (Apium graveolens L.) bermanfaat sebagai
antibakteri karena memiliki kandungan flavonoid, saponin, tannin dan
steroid/triterpenoid. Staphylococcus aureus adalah bakteri patogen
yang dapat menyebabkan infeksi pada wajah. Sediaan clay mask
merupakan suatu sediaan yang mudah digunakan dalam
pengaplikasiannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui
formula yang menghasilkan mutu fisik, stabilitas, uji iritasi, dan nilai
uji kesukaan (hedonic) yang paling baik serta mempunyai aktivitas
antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus.
Serbuk daun seledri dimaserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%.
Ekstrak dengan konsentrasi 5% diformulasikan menjadi sediaan clay
mask dengan variasi xanthan gum sebesar (F1) 0,5%, (F2) 1%, dan (F3)
1,5%. Sediaan clay mask ekstrak daun seledri di evaluasi terhadap mutu
fisik, stabilitas, uji iritasi, dan uji kesukaan (hedonic), kemudian
dilanjutkan uji aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi cakram
disk. Data yang didapat kemudian dianalisis statistik menggunakan
metode Shapiro-wilk.
Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sampel formula sediaan
clay mask memiliki mutu fisik (organoleptis, homogenitas, pH,
viskositas, daya sebar, dan lama waktu mengering), uji iritasi, dan uji
kesukaan yang memenuhi persyaratan serta memiliki aktivitas sebagai
antibakteri Staphylococcus aureus, namun pada uji stabilitas sediaan
seluruh formula kurang stabil dalam penyimpanan. Formula clay mask
dengan variasi konsentrasi xanthan gum yang menghasilkan mutu fisik
dan stabilitas yang paling baik serta mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri
terhadap Staphylococcus aureus adalah F1 dengan daya hambat sebesar
22,29±0,169 mm.
Celery leaves (Apium graveolens L.) are useful as antibacterial
because
contain

saponins,
tannins
and
steroids/triterpenoids. Staphylococcus aureus is a pathogenic bacterium
that can cause infections on the face. Clay mask preparation is a
preparation that is easy to use in its application. The purpose of this
study was to find out which formula produced the best physical quality,
stability, irritation test, and hedonic test value and had antibacterial
activity against Staphylococcus aureus.
Celery leaf powder was macerated with 96% ethanol solvent.
The extract with a concentration of 5% was formulated into clay mask
preparations with variations of xanthan gum of (F1) 0.5%, (F2) 1%,
and (F3) 1.5%. Clay mask preparations of celery leaf extract were
evaluated for physical quality, stability, irritation test, and hedonic test,
then followed by antibacterial activity test using disc diffusion method.
The data obtained was then analyzed statistically using the Shapiro
Wilk method.
The test results showed that the clay mask formulation sample
had physical quality (organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity,
spreadability, and drying time), irritation test, and preference test that
met the requirements and had antibacterial activity against
Staphylococcus aureus, but on stability test of all formulas less stable
in storage. The clay mask formula with various concentrations of
xanthan gum which produced the best physical quality and stability and
had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus was F1 with an
inhibition of 22.29 ± 0.169 mm.
