Abstract

Kandidiasis merupakan infeksi jamur yang umum terjadi di Indonesia. Indonesia merupakan negara beriklim tropis yang memiliki kelembapan dan suhu udara yang cukup tinggi. Selain itu faktor personal hygene dan pengetahuan akan kesehatan yang kurang menjadi faktor resiko pertumbuhan jamur. Sediaan gel dengan variasi ekstrak pegagan dengan konsentrasi 3%, 6%, dan 9%. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi ekstrak pegagan terhadap mutu fisik dan aktivitas jamur Candida albicans pada sediaan gel. Ekstrak pegagan diformulasikan dengan bentuk sediaan gel dengan konsentrasi 3%, 6%, dan 9%. Formula di uji karakteristik fisik sediaan meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, daya sebar, daya lekat dan viskositas. Formula di uji aktivitas antijamur terhadap Candida albicans. Hasil uji dianalisis dengan statistik menggunakan SPSS. Hasil uji karakteristik fisik formulasi sediaan gel ekstrak daun pegagan dapat diformulasikan dalam sediaan gel dan memiliki mutu fisik sediaan yang baik. Variasi konsentrasi zat aktif ekstrak daun pegagan 3%, 6%, dan 9% memiliki aktivitas daya hambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans. Variasi konsentrasi zat aktif ekstrak daun pegagan menunjukkan pada formula II dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun pegagan 6%, memiliki aktivitas daya hambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans yang efektif dibandingkan dengan formula I dan formula III dalam pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans. Candidiasis is a common fungal infection in Indonesia. Indonesia has a tropical climate with relatively high humidity and temperature. Furthermore, poor personal hygiene and health literacy are risk factors for fungal growth. Gel preparations containing gotu kola extract at concentrations of 3%, 6%, and 9% were prepared. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of varying gotu kola extract concentrations on the physical quality and activity of Candida albicans in the gel preparation. The gotu kola extract was formulated into a gel dosage form with concentrations of 3%, 6%, and 9%. The formulations were tested for physical characteristics including organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesion, and viscosity. The formulations were also tested for antifungal activity against Candida albicans. The test results were analyzed statistically using SPSS. The results of the physical characterization tests showed that the gotu kola leaf extract gel formulations could be successfully developed and exhibited good physical quality. The 3%, 6%, and 9% concentration of gotu kola leaf extract demonstrated inhibitory activity against the growth of Candida albicans. Among the formulations, Formula II, which contained 6% gotu kola leaf extract, showed more effective antifungal activity against Candida albicans compared to Formula I and Formula III.
