Abstract
Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan penyakit infeksi
yang ditandai dengan penurunan jumlah trombosit (trombositopenia),
yang dapat mempengaruhi tingkat kesembuhan pasien. Kortikosteroid
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease
characterized by a decrease in the number of platelets
(thrombocytopenia), which can affect the patient's recovery rate.
Corticosteroids such as dexamethasone are known to have antiinflammatory and immunosuppressive effects that have the potential to
increase platelet count. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness
of corticosteroids in increasing platelets in Dengue patients, as well as
to compare the recovery rate of platelet counts between patients
receiving corticosteroid and non- steroidal therapy.
This study used a retrospective observational design with medical
record data of Dengue patients at Dr. Moewardi Surakarta Hospital in
the period January 2023 to December 2024. The sample was selected by
purposive sampling of 56 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion
criteria. Data on platelet counts before and after therapy were analyzed
using Mann-Whitney statistical tests.
The results showed that there were significant differences between
the groups of patients who were given corticosteroid therapy and those
who were not. However, the average platelet increase was higher in the
group without corticosteroids. This suggests that the use of
corticosteroids does not necessarily provide better clinical outcomes in
the management of Dengue patients.
