Abstract
Paparan sinar ultraviolet (UV) secara berlebihan dapat
menyebabkan penuaan dini, hiperpigmentasi, hingga kanker kulit. Salah
satu bentuk perlindungan kulit dari sinar UV adalah penggunaan tabir
surya berbahan alami, seperti ekstrak dedak padi (Oryza sativa L.) yang
mengandung senyawa bioaktif gamma-oryzanol, tokoferol, dan
tokotrienol sebagai antioksidan dan pelindung UV. Penelitian ini
bertujuan untuk merumuskan lotion tabir surya berbahan dasar ekstrak
dedak padi dengan variasi konsentrasi TEA) dan asam stearat, serta
mengevaluasi mutu fisik dan nilai SPF-nya secara in vitro.
Ekstrak dedak padi diperoleh dengan metode maserasi
menggunakan etanol 96%, kemudian diformulasikan menjadi tiga
variasi lotion: F1 (TEA 1,5% dan asam stearat 2,5%), F2 (2%:3%), dan
F3 (2,5%:3,5%). Evaluasi nilai SPF dilakukan menggunakan metode
Mansur dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 290–
320 nm.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh formula memiliki
nilai SPF dalam kategori perlindungan sedang hingga maksimal.
Formula F3 memiliki nilai SPF tertinggi sebesar 16,69, diikuti F2 sebesar
14,62, dan F1 sebesar 13,47. Analisis statistik menunjukkan perbedaan
signifikan antar formula. Dengan demikian, ekstrak dedak padi
berpotensi sebagai bahan aktif tabir surya alami dengan efektivitas
perlindungan UV yang baik.
Excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause premature
aging, hyperpigmentation, and even skin cancer. One form of skin
protection against UV rays is the use of sunscreens made from natural
ingredients, such as rice bran (Oryza sativa L.) extract, which contains
bioactive compounds gamma-oryzanol, tocopherol, and tocotrienol that
act as antioxidants and UV protectants. This study aims to formulate a
sunscreen lotion based on rice bran extract with varying concentrations
of TEA and stearic acid, as well as to evaluate its physical qualities and
in vitro SPF value.
The rice bran extract was obtained via maceration using 96%
ethanol, then formulated into three lotion variations: F1 (TEA 1.5% and
stearic acid 2.5%), F2 (2%:3%), and F3 (2.5%:3.5%). SPF evaluation
was conducted using the Mansur method with a UV-Vis
spectrophotometer at wavelengths of 290–320nm.
The results showed that all formulas had SPF values in the
moderate to maximum protection category. Formula F3 had the highest
SPF value of 16.69, followed by F2 at 14.62, and F1 at 13.47. Statistical
analysis showed significant differences between the formulas. Therefore,
rice bran extract has potential as a natural active sunscreen ingredient
with good UV protection effectiveness.
